How to Increase the Text Size on this Website

There are several easy-to-use tools and controls built into your computer and Internet browsers that will increase the overall size of the website—text, graphics and all. Here's how you can do it:

If You're Using a Mouse with a Scroll Wheel

An easy way to increase the print size—and the size of many of the other features—is to hold down the Control (CTRL) key while rolling the scroll wheel on your mouse. Rolling it away from you will make the print size bigger, and rolling it toward you will make the print size smaller.

If You're Viewing this Site in Windows Internet Explorer

When using Windows Internet Explorer, select the View option on the Menu bar. There are two options on this menu to explore. The first is Text Size. It has about five choices: Largest, Larger, Medium, Smaller and Smallest. Choose the one that's right for you.

The other option is Zoom, which is how you can increase the print size onscreen if you are not using a mouse with a scroll wheel. The Zoom submenu gives you multiple options for increasing print size.

You can also easily access the Zoom function by looking for a magnifying glass option in the bottom left corner of your browser window. Clicking on this icon will automatically enlarge the page.

You can also use the following keyboard shortcuts:

  • To increase the text size, press and hold Ctrl while pressing + .
  • To decrease the text size, press and hold Ctrl while pressing -.
  • To reset the text size, press and hold Ctrl while pressing 0.

If You're Viewing this Site in Firefox

With PageZoom, a new feature on Firefox, you can increase or decrease print size using your keyboard:

  • To increase the text size, press and hold Ctrl while pressing + .
  • To decrease the text size, press and hold Ctrl while pressing -.
  • To reset the text size, press and hold Ctrl while pressing 0.

You can also access PageZoom through the View menu:

  • At the top of the Firefox window, click the View menu, then go to Zoom.
  • Select either Zoom In, Zoom Out, or Reset for their corresponding action.
  • You can choose Zoom Text Only, which will make the controls only apply to text, not images.

You can also configure Firefox to display all text at a minimum font size of your choosing. If a web page contains text that is smaller than your defined minimum size, Firefox increases the font size of the text to this minimum. To set a minimum text size:

  1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Tools menu, and select Options....
  2. Select the Content panel.
  3. In the Fonts & Colors pane, click Advanced....
  4. In the Minimum Font Size drop-down, select the minimum size in points in which all text must be displayed.

If You're Viewing this Site in Safari

You can zoom in or out on web content using keyboard shortcuts, Multi-touch trackpad gestures, or the Zoom toolbar button:

  • Use keyboard shortcuts Command-plus (+) to zoom in and Command-minus (-) to zoom out.
  • On a Multi-touch trackpad you can pinch out to zoom in and pinch in to zoom out.
  • To add the Zoom button to your toolbar, simply choose "Customize Toolbar..." from the "View" menu and drag the Zoom button onto your toolbar.
  • At any time you can also press Command-0 (zero), or choose View > Actual Size to return the webpage contents to the default size.

If You're Using a Mac

There are several accessibility features built into the Mac OS X for people who are blind or visually impaired, including a screen reader, Braille display support, and screen magnification. For more information on these features, please visit this site.
