SAGE at Out and Equal
SAGE staff and board members traveled to Austin September 10-13th to attend the annual Out & Equal Summit.ᅠ Out & Equal" Workplace Advocates is the pre-eminent national organization devoted to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community in the workplace.ᅠ Over 2,200 LGBT and straight allies from corporate America were in attendance.ᅠ The Summit included an array of workshops and seminars related to improving workplace benefits, visibility of LGBT employees, networking, and engaging in community activities. SAGE Executive Director Michael Adams joined representatives from Credit Suisse in a workshop discussing the value of partnering with philanthropy, while SAGE Director of Advocacy & Training Karen Taylor led a panel discussion on Gay and Gray in the Workplace and Beyond.ᅠ Teaming up with Imani Woody of AARP and Paul Frene of MetLife, Karens Gay & Gray gave an overview of the value of older employees in the workplace, what LGBT aging looks like today, and ways to effectively plan for retirement. ᅠThis was a great opportunity to get LGBT aging on the radar screen for employees at major corporations around the country, said Michael Adams. ᅠᅠ ᅠ Out & Equal will be joining SAGE at SAGEs Fourth National Conference on LGBT Aging, and participating in a session on creating an LGBT employee resource group for your business.
