Privacy Policy


SAGE is committed to maintaining the privacy and personal information gathered from our members and those who visit us at www.sageusa.org. As the protection of your privacy is important to us, we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about what information you give us and the way that information is used.

You do not have to share any personal information to use the SAGE website, and we do not collect personally identifiable information without your permission. We do at times link to other websites, and SAGE cannot control and is not responsible for the content or privacy policies of those sites.

This privacy policy sets forth SAGE’s information practices regarding:

  • How we use the information
  • How you receive emails and newsletters from SAGE
  • How you can access and correct your personal information
  • How we protect your personal and financial information

The kind of personally identifiable information we collect

SAGE collects the following types of personal information at our website:

  • Spouse/partner’s name
  • Profession
  • Spouse/partner’s profession
  • Address
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Credit/debit card number
  • Areas of personal interest

How we use the information you provide when you become a member of SAGE

We gather contact information when you contribute to SAGE online or via mail or when you join at a public event. We use this information to send you communications about SAGE’s work and upgrading or renewing your membership.

SAGE also uses information gathered via the SAGE website to improve our web-based services. SAGE periodically performs statistical analyses of aggregate user behavior and characteristics in order to measure interest in and use of various areas of our website and to use such information to improve on our website’s ability to serve you better.

Cookies: SAGE does not currently use cookies on its website, but may eventually. A cookie is a small piece of data stored on an End User’s hard drive but does not itself contain any personal information. Cookies enhance an End User’s experience by saving the End User from having to log in or provide information each time he or she re-visits a SAGE web page and by customizing content based on an End User’s interests. An End User can choose whether or not he or she wants to use the cookie.

How you receive communications (newsletters, etc.) from SAGE

You will only receive communications from us if you have a) signed up for membership or b) you have signed up to receive information from SAGE through a mailing or brochure, at an event or through some other venue.

Other than your name and postal mailing address, none of the information you provide via our website (including your email address) is shared with other organizations or parties. From time to time SAGE may exchange the names and mailing addresses of our members with other like-minded organizations. If you prefer your name and address not be shared with other organizations, please email info@sageusa.org and request that we not share any of your information.

In order to provide you with better and more relevant information, we compile information about email response and website usage. This information helps us to better understand our members’ site usage patterns and also what types of content and information may help improve your user experience on the SAGE website.

How you can access or correct your information

You can access and correct all your personally identifiable information that we collect online. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections. You can also correct and/or change any information regarding your membership by calling (212) 741-2247.

How we protect your personal and financial information

SAGE is extremely protective of the information gathered through its membership and website. Our website has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of the information under our control. Our web server is located in a locked, secure environment. All databases containing personal information are securely stored on a separate system that is not connected to the Internet.

When you contribute to SAGE online, we use a secure server and encryption to protect your financial and other personal information during transmission.

SAGE does not specifically ask children under 18 for any information and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information about them.
