Joseph WassermanMajor Gifts Officer
Joey Wasserman is the Major Gifts Officer at Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders (SAGE). He is responsible for managing the organization's major donor stewardship and outreach initiatives. Prior to SAGE, he was with EdgeAlliance as the Campaign Development Manager for Dining Out for Life, tasked with increasing educational awareness and driving growth. Joey was a member of the Development Outreach team at the Human Rights Campaign. While there, he coordinated programs such as HRC's Presidential Election Night Out, HRC's Annual Nation-Wide Pride Events & on-the-ground canvassing campaigns.
As a political fundraiser, activist and community organizer, Joey has dedicated his career to engaging and empowering the public. Joey joined the presidential campaign of then-senator Hilary Clinton in 2008, mobilizing unions, community organizations, advocacy groups and volunteers in support of the campaign. He continued with Rep. Suzanne Kosmas (D-FL) as the LGBT outreach coordinator in her Congressional Field Office, joining a dynamic communication team interacting with the highly competitive Florida media market.
In 2006, Joey co-founded The Curve, an LGBT youth center in Pennsylvania serving youth ages 14-21 and currently serves on the Ambassador’s Committee for the Trevor Project. Joey takes great pride in engaging and organizing individuals in the community to embrace and work toward a cause they feel passionate about.
A native of Philadelphia, his family started LGBT-friendly businesses in the 1970s – one now the oldest LGBT restaurant/bar in the city, The Venture Inn.
