Teresa Theophano, LMSWCare Manager
Teresa Theophano is a Care Manager for Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders (SAGE) who has a long history of working with the LGBTQ community in New York City, specifically around issues of homelessness, mental health, and wellness. Prior to entering the field of social work, Teresa was an assistant editor at a book publisher and specialized in LGBTQ fiction, but getting involved with feminist and LGBTQ-related advocacy as a volunteer and activist inspired her to make a career change. She continues to write on a freelance basis while serving and advocating alongside homebound LGBT elders and their family caregivers. Teresa holds a Master’s degree from Hunter College School of Social Work, is co-editing an anthology in progress on the topic of LGBTQ mental health, and has lived in Brooklyn with a rotating roster of cats for close to two decades.
