Steve Turtell is the Institutional Giving Manager at Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders (SAGE), the country’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBT older adults. In this role, he supports SAGE’s fundraising efforts as part of the Development Department, and is the team’s newest member.

Prior to working at SAGE, he was the Development Manager at the THANC (Thyroid Head & Neck Cancer) Foundation, where he oversaw the corporate fundraising for the THANC’s annual medical education course. His fundraising experience began in 1983 as a member of GMHC’s first fundraising committee. After earning a MFA at Brooklyn College, where he taught in the English Department for four years, he was Director of Public Programs at the Museum of the City of New York, the South Street Seaport Museum and the New-York Historical Society. He is a published poet and critic. He studied with Allen Ginsberg at Brooklyn College, where he was president of the English Grad Student’s Association and editor of Brooklyn Review 14.
