Peter “Souleo” Wright is the Program Coordinator for SAGE Center Harlem for Services & Advocacy for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Elders (SAGE).
Prior to joining SAGE, Souleo partnered with the New York Public Library to produce LGBT, financial literacy, and creative programming. The roster of events garnered media attention on WNBC, the NY Daily News, and several critics’ picks in Time Out New York.
As a journalist he has written for noted media outlets including Newsweek, the NY Daily News, JET magazine, and New York Press. As a pop culture expert he’s been featured on TV One’s “Life After,” CNN’s “The Nancy Grace Show,” and MTV’s “FNMTV Premieres.” Souleo is also the creator of the column “On the ‘A’ w/ Souleo” which is now syndicated online across several media properties including Huffington Post, EBONY, Soul Train, New York Amsterdam News, Harlem World Magazine, and Rolling Out.
As a curator, he has combined his passion for the arts and programming to spearhead several successful contemporary art exhibitions including the first-ever AARP exhibition "Lasting Legacy: The Journey of You," and “i found god in myself: the 40th anniversary celebration of Ntozake Shange’s for colored girls…” at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. Souleo has received a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Brown University.
