Ever wondered about the New Jersey Meadowlands? It sits in New Yorks shadow and are being transformed into parks, with many waterways that wind through the marshlands? Meet SAGE guide Donald Shachat at the Penn Station rotunda. We will take the 3:30 NJ Transit train to Secaucus Junction - about a 10 min ride. A 15-20 min walk will take us to Laurel Hill Park, where we will have a 2.5 hour narrated eco-cruise through the marshlands, which are teeming again with wildlife. Please bring water, sunscreen, snacks, insect repellent (gnats), and head covering. The boat is open and the sun can be strong. The walk is on level ground, but there is no shade. Tour price is $15 (regular fee is $25) and is limited to 15 people. Reservations begin July 8. NJT senior fare (buy two one-way tix) round trip is $3.50. |
