How Do I Become a SAGE Volunteer?
Attend a Volunteer Orientation: The first step to becoming a SAGE volunteer is to attend a Volunteer Orientation, held on the third Wednesday of every month at 7:00 pm. We gather at SAGE Center Midtown (305 7th Avenue, 15th Floor, New York, NY). Call the front desk at 646-576-8669 to make sure that the orientation is not being held in a SAGE satellite office. Advance registration is not required—just bring yourself and a pen.
Next Steps: After you attend the volunteer orientation, you may be contacted for a one-on-one interview with a SAGE Community Services staff member, depending on the volunteering role you apply apply for and to answer any questions you may have. Some positions may allow you to jump right in and see if it is a fit with your skills and interests. Most volunteers will begin their service by responding to a Volunteer Opportunities email.
Attend a Volunteer Training: In some cases, the volunteer opportunities at SAGE require initial training and may include other commitments as well. You can find out more about this at the Volunteer Orientation.
If you are not able to attend a Volunteer Orientation, please send an email with your name and contact information to: email@example.com, or call Bertis Shankle-Reyes at (212) 741-3592. If the volunteer services you offer are in high demand, we may be able to arrange for an earlier orientation.
