LGBT Aging Takes Center Stage in St. Louis
SAGE Metro St. Louis is excited to host SAGE Affiliates and Aging professionals from across the U.S. to this week long gathering.
Serena Worthington with SAGE USA notes, “We are excited about hosting our annual meeting of SAGE affiliates in St. Louis. Being able to hold the meeting in a great city with an outstanding affiliate, SAGE Metro St. Louis, is a fantastic opportunity. Staff and constituents from 21 affiliates and 4 potential affiliates look forward to connecting as leaders and sharing best practices during our Peer Day and learning about community advocacy and grassroots organizing during our first-ever SAGE Advocacy Institute.”
Following two days of SAGE Affiliate meetings, the National Resource Center on LGBT Aging will wrap up the week with their LGBT Cultural Competency Train–the-Trainer. Hilary Meyer, Director of the National Resource Center states, “We are thrilled to host our second annual train-the-trainer in St. Louis. Trainees will come from all over the country, as well as the local affiliate SAGE Metro St. Louis and a local Long-Term Care Ombudsman, to be trained in St. Louis by our expert training partner PHI. It is a wonderful opportunity for trainers to meet in person in a welcoming city and become certified on LGBT aging cultural competency.”
SAGE Metro St. Louis invites community members to come out and meet members of the SAGE Affiliate Network and become a part of the LGBT Aging Equality Movement by joining them at a Wine and Cheese Reception hosted by Tower Grove Manor Senior Apartments at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 17th at Tower Grove Manor 2710 South Grand Blvd., St. Louis MO.
