SAGE LGBT Elder Hotline

For nearly forty years, SAGE has prioritized the needs of our most vulnerable LGBT elders and we continue to do so. That is why the SAGE LGBT Elder Hotline was launched in 2016 as part of a national effort to take care of our own.
Now, no matter where they live, LGBT elders have a place to call when they need peer counseling, information and local resources. The SAGE LGBT Elder Hotline is live and ready to take your calls at 1-888-234-SAGE. The hotline is open Monday through Friday from 4pm - midnight, Eastern Time and on Saturday from noon to 5PM Eastern Time. Prefer to use email? Reach out at SAGE@GLBThotline.org.

Operated by the GLBT National Help Center, this hotline offers peer-support to callers who are often very isolated sometimes still closeted, and in need of a caring, non-judgmental person to talk with. The folks on the hotline don't give advice, instead they listen and they care!

Volunteer

Interested in volunteering? Join over 50 volunteers who know that our community is only as strong as the most vulnerable among us. Register to volunteer today!

If you can donate 2 1/2 hours of time, at the same time each week, for at least six months, we can use your help.

Volunteers on the hotline offer peer-support to callers who are often very isolated, sometimes still closeted, and in need of a caring, non-judgmental person to talk with. We don't give advice, instead we listen and we care!

Volunteers also answer factual questions regarding safer-sex information and give out local resource information from the largest LGBT resource database in the country!

The SAGE LGBT Elder Hotline is operated by the GLBT National Help Center. Potential new volunteers located in the San Francisco area can train in our downtown offices. If you live anywhere else, you can still train and volunteer if you have a computer, internet access and a quiet, private space.

Our training consists of a two-month program, consisting of online study, a training class and then a weekly one-on-one Buddy Shift for six weeks.

If you're interested in volunteering, please visit the GLBT National Help Center's registration page.
