Bill Gross

Coordinator, Friendly Visitor Program and SAGEPositive

Bill Gross is Coordinator of the Friendly Visitor Program and SAGEPositive at Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders (SAGE). Bill has worked with LGBT non-profit organizations for over two decades, starting as a volunteer HIV counselor at Philadelphia’s Mazzoni Clinic almost 25 years ago.

Bill served as assistant coordinator of GMHC’s Buddy Program, supervising 200 volunteers in providing social and emotional support to agency clients. He was also employed at Callen-Lorde Community Health Center as lead HIV counselor, training departmental and medical staff in client-based counseling, leading support groups, and testing and providing results to hundreds of patients. Outside of the non-profit world, he worked for almost 2 years with the 2010 Census, eventually becoming the highest ranking official on Manhattan’s East Side and serving as a designated liaison to the NYC’s LGBT community.

When not working behind a desk, Bill has enjoyed a career as a professional actor and singer. A graduate of The Julliard School, he has had the opportunity to work with such luminaries as Audra McDonald and Vanessa Redgrave, and has performed at theatres in New York and across the country. His most recent work was a production of his own one-man show, All The Way Through Evening.
