SAGE’S 2023 Annual Report Celebrates Resilience

[New York, NY] – SAGE is proud to announce our 2023 annual report focused on Celebrating Resilience. Throughout their lives, LGBTQ+ elders weathered hatred and discrimination while still fighting for many of the privileges our community enjoys today. We know it’s now our time to show up in return. When our elders thrive, our community thrives with them. In this spirit, we redefined and reimagined how we’re serving our community.

Our two new divisions — SAGEServes and SAGEVenture — launched to serve those who have been historically marginalized through new programs and services. These new divisions will help SAGE grow and meet the needs of our community. In addition, we launched various initiatives in 2023 that will uplift LGBTQ+ elders well into the future. For example, SAGECents celebrated exponential growth in its third year. An impressive 45% of users reported that they increased their savings.

We made groundbreaking impacts in policy in New York State and beyond by addressing quality housing for LGTBQ+ elders, pushing for improved legislation for those living with HIV, and creating inclusive aging services nationwide. Beyond our work in the United States, SAGE’s international presence deepened through partnerships such as the LGBTI Elders Advancing Initiative, increased data collection, and solidarity at international convenings worldwide.

Finally, SAGE’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts expanded in 2023 as we strongly invested in long-term intersectional DEI efforts, uplifted anti-racism as a core value at SAGE, and shifted even more resources and power to historically marginalized communities. As we move into 2024, we invite you to support our mission of ensuring that all our community members can thrive as they age.
