On Sunday Collingdale Parks & Recreation, headed by Chris Ruane, had its Tree Lighting and Winter Wonderland event at the Collingdale Community Center, 800 MacDade Blvd.
Singers, Lisa and Rich Small, and Elizabeth McGuire, entertained all with Christmas carols before Santa arrived.
Santa arrived by Collingdale Fire Company ladder truck. The Rev. Perry Messick blessed Santa and the tree before Santa and Mayor Donna Matteo-Spadea, flipped the switch to light the tree.
All then went inside to the Winter Wonderland with Santa’s village set up by John Moors and Marty Anthony, where the kids got their pictures taken with Santa.
Children received a framed photo with Santa, and gift from Santa, along with a free story book, snacks and drinks, given out by Tina Lare, Sean Murphy, Kate Munro, Chris Ruane, and Councilwomen Lisa Jones and Shannon Murphy, The Ruane and Murphy families and Collingdale police and fire company. […]
