As you know, news about COVID-19 changes not only by the day, but by the hour, requiring all of us to be agile and regularly reevaluate our decisions.
As the country’s largest organization working with and for LGBTQ+ older people, SAGE must lead by example. As an organization, we are taking important steps to encourage social distancing and limit the potential transmission of the virus. Because LGBTQ+ elders and older people living with HIV are at higher risk for experiencing the virus more acutely, we must take appropriate action in order to protect our supporters, our constituents, and our staff.
Therefore, it is with great regret that we announce that SAGE is postponing and/or cancelling our national events through the end of March. Once the public health situation improves, we will make and announce additional plans. If you have questions, you can send inquiries through our website or by directly emailing info@sageusa.org.
In addition, per the CDC’s recommendations on congregate gatherings, NYC SAGE Centers are closed as of March 16 until further notice. We are advising elders to stay at home and SAGE will continue to offer support telephonically. Learn more about our NYC site closures.
Thank you for your understanding as we navigate this public health pandemic and work to ensure the safety of our elders, supporters, community members, and staff. The health and well-being of our community is our priority, and SAGE will provide updates as they are available – stay up to date by visiting our website and following SAGE on Facebook and Twitter.
