Looking Forward: Michele Giordano and Darcy Connors to Lead New Divisions at SAGE

Two uniquely skilled executive directors will break ground on SAGE’s strategic direction

NEW YORK – SAGE, the world’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ elders, is proud to announce the addition of two new subdivisions: SAGEServes and SAGEVenture. These divisions will be led by two highly experienced executive directors, Darcy Connors and Michele Giordano, who will help fully realize SAGE’s strategic vision, first unveiled in October 2022.

SAGE has committed to dramatically scaling its impact for LGBTQ+ elders everywhere – especially those who have been historically marginalized, such as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC), transgender, non-binary, and rural LGBTQ+ elders. To achieve this, SAGE is boldly reimagining how we operate and move in the world with the path-breaking SAGE Center of Excellence (CoE), a more diverse partnership model, and these two new divisions.

SAGEServes will focus on providing high-quality, inclusive programs and services for LGBTQ+ elders in New York and replicated programs throughout the United States. At the same time, SAGEVenture will offer innovative programs, products, and offerings with forward-looking sustainable funding models. With the launch of these divisions, SAGE is branching out with a new look and feel to convey the excitement and progress of the organization.

Darcy Connors, who has a background in leading diverse, multi-disciplinary teams focused on success in elder care, will head the SAGEServes division. She is committed to increasing outreach to marginalized communities, including transgender, non-conforming, and non-binary elders. “I look forward to focusing on quality programming, including caregiving, SAGEVets, and SAGEPositive, and creating more opportunities to serve LGBTQ+ elders in New York City and South Florida,” said Connors.

Michele Giordano, who has expertise in start-ups, scale, and international expansion, will lead SAGEVenture. “I am excited to join SAGE and lead SAGEVenture with a world-class team that transforms how LGBTQ+ older people receive the care and services they deserve and need. I look forward to developing new social enterprise initiatives and growing SAGECare to further our mission.”

Michael Adams, CEO of SAGE, warmly welcomed Darcy and Michele, “As we navigate challenging times, SAGE’s new strategic direction is a bold and visionary roadmap for increasing our impact for LGBTQ+ elders. We are excited to welcome two highly accomplished leaders to guide SAGEServes and SAGEVenture.” Continued Adams, “with Darcy and Michele’s deep expertise and commitment, SAGE will keep expanding our high-quality, life-saving programs and services for LGBTQ+ elders. Concurrently, we will create exciting new models for healthy aging for our pioneers while growing our reach and support for historically marginalized communities. We are thrilled to have Darcy and Michele join SAGE’s senior leadership team and look forward to the great work we will accomplish together.”
