New housing development in Fort Greene to cater to LGBTQ+ community

FORT GREENE – LGBTQ+ community members will have a new place to call home this fall with the construction of a 17-story building in Fort Greene.

The new development, called the Ingersoll Senior Residences, is being built by BFC Partners in partnership with NYCHA and SAGE and is LGBTQ+-friendly and LGBTQ+-welcoming.

The project is a part of NYCHA’s 100% affordable housing program. It will include 145 studio and one-bedroom apartments with communal areas and handicap accessibility.

Out of these apartments, 108 of them are part of a lottery system for people 62 years old and older as well as 37 of them for people formerly homeless.

SAGE will also provide a 6,800-square foot center on site for the community to assist with activities and support.
