SAGE Commemorates Stonewall 50 and Celebrates Advocates for LGBTQ+ Elders


SAGE will honor Emmy and Tony Award–winning actor André De Shields, Stacey Friedman, Executive Vice President and General Counsel for JPMorgan Chase & Co., and Emmy Award–winning actor Leslie Jordan.

WHAT:       

On Monday, October 21, 2019, SAGE, the world’s largest organization dedicated to serving and caring for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBTQ+) older people, will celebrate a group of notable advocates and change agents who have made a difference in the lives of LGBTQ+ elders at its SAGE Awards & Gala.

In this special year—the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising—SAGE will salute those who were at the forefront of the modern LGBTQ+ movement.

Award recipients include Emmy and Tony Award–winning actor André De Shields, Stacey Friedman, Executive Vice President and General Counsel for JPMorgan Chase & Co., and Emmy Award–winning actor Leslie Jordan. Broadway star and Tony Award–winning actress Laura Benanti will perform.

Jay Toole, a Stonewall survivor and LGBTQ+ activist, will share their story. LGBTQ+ elders like Jay stood on the front lines of our community’s struggle for equality. SAGE is working to ensure that LGBTQ+ elders have the support and resources they need to age with the dignity and respect they deserve.
