SAGE Welcomes Staci Alexander and David de Figueiredo to Its Board of Directors


[New York, New York] – SAGE, the world’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ elders, is proud to welcome Staci Alexander and David de Figueiredo to its Board of Directors. Staci and David bring with them decades of expertise in policy, finance, and community building that will serve as incredible assets to SAGE’s work in advocating for LGBTQ+ elder rights and health equity.

Staci Alexander, Vice-President of Thought Leadership at AARP, brings a wealth of leadership experience and expertise to the Board. Throughout her career, she has cultivated partnerships and alliances across sectors, making healthy longevity accessible to all. Staci’s multifaceted background in policy development, philanthropy, and communication uniquely equips her to address the complex challenges faced by LGBTQ+ elders. Her passion for advancing equity for adults and children with developmental disabilities is evident through her active involvement with organizations such as the Institute for Exceptional Care. Staci holds an MPA from City University of New York, Baruch School of Public Affairs, and a BA in political science from Vassar College, and is a graduate of the Leadership Fairfax (Virginia) Class of 2020.

David de Figueiredo, a seasoned veteran with over 32 years of experience in the financial services industry, enriches SAGE’s board with his economic governance and strategic planning expertise. Having held prominent roles at Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., and Greater Bay Bank, N.A., David’s vast knowledge makes him a trusted financial expert. He also serves on the Board of Lincoln Families, a 140-year-old agency serving Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, where he has held the positions of Secretary, Vice Chair and Chair. David has also previously served on the Board of Lambda Legal Defense & Education Fund, Inc., holding the positions of Treasurer and later Vice Chair during his tenure. David recently joined the Board of the Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine College, Berkeley to assist with board governance and financial oversight.

Upon joining the Board, David de Figueiredo commented: “SAGE is committed to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ older adults and is a leading voice in advocating for their rights and well-being. SAGE has been recognized for its pioneering work in this field and is a trusted resource for LGBTQ+ seniors, their families, and caregivers, and I am proud to serve on its board.”
