[New York, New York] — SAGECare is proud to announce the launch of its latest training program, “Guidance and Grace: Preparing LGBTQ+ Older Adults for End of Life.” This essential training is designed to address the unique needs and experiences of LGBTQ+ older adults, ensuring that their desires are honored and their needs are met as they navigate the complexities of aging.
LGBTQ+ older adults often face significant challenges in planning for the latter half of their lives, including legal and relational barriers that can impact their dignity and respect at the end of life. With many relying on relationships that may not be legally recognized and sometimes experiencing estrangement from their next of kin, it is crucial to have the proper paperwork and plans in place.
“Guidance and Grace” takes participants through the intricacies of LGBTQ+ relationships and the necessary paperwork involved in three critical stages of life: planning for end-of-life care, coping with significant illness, and navigating end-of-life or funeral services. This comprehensive training empowers care providers to better support LGBTQ+ older adults, helping to ensure that their unique needs are acknowledged and addressed.
