Sharpen Your Knowledge for Delivering Culturally Competent Care to LGBTQI Residents


Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and intersex patients and residents have unique concerns, needs, and strengths that require staff understanding so that these individuals feel safe and affirmed in long term care settings. CMS expects nursing facilities to deliver competent care to LGBTQI residents, and many states have similar expectations for assisted living centers.

AHCA/NCAL has partnered with SAGE to offer a training for AHCA/NCAL members titled Creating Inclusive Communities for LGBTQI and HIV+ Older Adults. SAGE is a national organization providing advocacy and services for LGBTQI elders. ​
