In this initial roundtable discussion, we turned to the individuals, activists, and organizations on the ground directly in service to rural LGBTQ+ elders. We aimed to learn the significant barriers they experience, and how their resilience has fostered creative solutions. But further, we hoped to inform our Day 2 roundtable discussion – recognizing that we must turn to the people to define community for themselves.
