2016 SAGE Annual Report

Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders (SAGE)

June 15, 2017

2016 was a monumental year for SAGE’s efforts to support our LGBT elders all across this country.  Here are a few highlights:

  • Our National LGBT Elder Housing Initiative made major advances nationwide; we have trained some 15,000 aging providers to deliver care more attuned to the needs of our LGBT elders.

  • We continued our fierce advocacy for LGBT-inclusive aging policy.  To that end, SAGE generated more than 3,000 comments from people representing 48 states in support of the Obama Administration making federally funded elder service programs more LGBT inclusive.

  • SAGE adopted an ambitious strategic plan. The markers set for its success are lofty: By 2021, SAGE intends to make a meaningful difference in the lives of at least 500,000 LGBT older people and to catalyze 500 LGBT and age-friendly communities across the country.
