SAGE Fights Back: A (Temporary) Victory in the Battle Against Federal Funding Freeze

In: We Refuse to Be Invisible

At SAGE, we refuse to sit quietly while LGBTQ+ elders—and millions of Americans—are put at risk. That’s why we joined Democracy Forward and a coalition of nonprofits to challenge the Trump administration’s attempt to freeze federal grants and loans. This reckless move threatened essential services, from housing to healthcare, disproportionately harming communities across the country.

Yesterday, our collective efforts secured a critical victory: a temporary pause on the freeze! This means that, for now, vital programs can continue serving those who rely on them. But this fight isn’t over. We know that this is temporary and attempts to strip away support from our communities will keep coming, and we are prepared to push back.

LGBTQ+ elders have spent their lives fighting for dignity, justice, and equality. They deserve better than political games that put their well-being in jeopardy. SAGE is in this for the long haul. We will take care of our own. We will not be silent. And we won’t back down: #WeRefuseToBeInvisible.
