Celebrating & Honoring TGNB Elders
November 13 to 19 is Trans Week of Awareness and SAGE is focused on elevating the voices of TGNB elders and the importance of intergenerational relationships within the trans community. In addition to educating our broader community members and allies about the experiences of trans elders, SAGE will also mark Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), on November 20. Across the world, TDOR gives space to the community to gather, recognize and memorialize those lost to anti-transgender violence. According to Transgender Europe (TGEU), 327 trans and nonbinary people were killed in the past year worldwide. Mourning those lost is a poignant reminder of why we work to create an equitable world where trans and nonbinary people can age with dignity.
