SAGE Launches Enhanced Housing Resources in SAGECents App for LGBTQ+ Elders

[September 28, 2024] SAGE, the largest organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ elders, is excited to announce new housing resources within the SAGECents app. Launched four years ago, SAGECents is a free financial wellness app that offers personalized tools tailored to users’ age, income, and financial goals.

With the introduction of the Housing Resources Survey, users can now access targeted housing support tailored to their unique needs and goals. Since its debut in 2020, SAGECents has registered thousands of users, helping them reduce debt by an average of $600 and increase income by approximately $2,200.

Recognizing the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals in securing stable housing, the Housing Resources Survey provides personalized reports based on users’ living situations, whether they are homeowners, renters, or seeking long-term care options. Key features include resources for:

  • Navigating the renting process
  • Addressing homeownership challenges
  • Planning for future housing changes
  • Seeking immediate shelter and support

“Finding safe and affirming housing can feel daunting for LGBTQ+ elders,” says Sydney Kopp-Richardson, Director of the National LGBTQ+ Housing Initiative at SAGE. “The SAGECents housing resource journey equips users with personalized tools to find supportive living environments.”

To celebrate this launch, users who complete the Housing Resource Survey by October 24, 2024, will be entered into the SAGECents Housing Sweepstakes for a chance to win one of ten $150 Visa gift cards.

The National LGBTQ+ Housing Initiative remains committed to addressing the housing needs of LGBTQ+ elders and ensuring that everyone can age with dignity in an affirming environment.
